About the Project
Last year we were asked to carry out some repairs on the 20th Prototype De Lorean. Quite a find!
The transmission tunnel was stripped down and the glass fibre repaired. The damaged old foam was replaced with new and a new PVC cover was made as per the original. The steel tray was also re-made and painted to original prototype specification.
The car, unfortunately, only had one of its original pre-production seats. It was left to us to recreate the pre-production squab styling on a production seat. You will see from the photographs the height difference in the seat cushions; the pre-production seat cushions were higher and had to be scrapped as they did not meet production regulations.
The photographs clearly illustrate the many differences between the prototype and production seats and transmission tunnels.
