About the Project
Having made a hood for this particular customer’s previous Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, he was keen for us to make a new hood and tonneau cover for his latest Rolls Royce.
After a couple of trips to P&A Woods in Great Dunmow, Essex for consultation, the car came to us late in December 2007. Work commenced on the hood, then the three tonneau covers in beige West German mohair. Two rear side screens were also made, along with a wind deflector situated between the top of the windscreen and the inside front of the hood.
We also made a new luggage trunk to sit at the rear of the car. We had a lightweight aluminium box frame made up and the base was put in using 10mm plywood trimmed in Dobby lining to match. The back, sides and top section were made from 1mm polycarbonate trimmed in the same material. The outside of the box was trimmed in the same material as the hood and tonneau covers, with the leather work being stitched by hand.
